FUNCTIONING OF SAHIC

Society For Assistance To Hearing Impaired Children (SAHIC) is run by an elected Executive Committee elected by the General & Life Members of SAHIC for a period of two years during Annual General Meeting. The Executive Committee meets atleast once in three months.

There is a Trust Board consists of 9 Trustees who run a Trust Fund formed out of the savings of donations received from home and abroad over the years. The principle of the Trust Fund is not spendable, but can be expanded to any limit. The annual dividend received out of the investments of the Trust Fund is used to supplement any shortfall in the running cost of the existing projects and to take-up any new project for the prevention, early detection, treatment and rehabilitation of hearing impaired and research in this field. The trust board meets as and when required.

This year a-20 member Advisory Board has been formed with eminent respectable personalities of the country to overview the activities of SAHIC and to recommend various ways and means to improve the services of SAHIC and image of the Society to the people. The board shall meet atleast once in a year

The activities of SAHIC are funded from the earnings of the following sources:-

•  Nominal fees and operation charges determined by the Executive Committee to receive from the patients. The charges are subsidized for the poor patients from 20% to 90% depending on their paying capacity. There is provision for free treatment of the destitutes.

•  Donations in kind and cash from philanthropic persons and organizations from home and abroad.

•  Grants from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of the Peoples' Republic of Bangladesh.
